Decompression valve

The decompression valve releases some of the compressed air from the combustion chamber, which significantly reduces the force required to start the engine. The burden on you as a user is much lower, and it also protects the entire starter system of the machine.

 

HD2 Filter

The newly developed HD2 filter, made from polyethylene, has up to 70% smaller pores than wood fiber or polyamide filters and removes even the finest dust particles. In addition, the filter is both water- and oil-repellent and very easy to clean. The round PET filter with quick-release fastener can be quickly and easily mounted and removed without any tools.

 

Adjustable oil pump

Allows you to fine-tune the oil supply entirely according to your needs. In the E setting, the chainsaw is in economy mode and oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50%. For very long bars or very dry wood, the oil quantity can be manually increased.

 

Side chain tensioning

On almost all Stihl chainsaws (except MS 170), the chain is tensioned from the side of the saw at a safe distance from the sharp cutting teeth. Turn off the chainsaw and loosen the screws on the chain sprocket cover. Tension the chain with a screwdriver on the chain tensioner while gently pulling the chain with your other hand. Simple and safe.

 

Combination lever

Since the M-Tronic system detects whether the machine is hot or cold started, only one start position is needed on the combination lever. The exact right amount of fuel is automatically delivered. You don't need to think about anything at startup—the system takes care of everything. Just start, go full throttle, and work. Incredibly simple, comfortable, and safe.

 

Compensator

The Stihl compensator, a regulating system in the carburetor, ensures that the fuel-air mixture is always optimal, regardless of how dirty the filter is. The compensator provides optimal performance with low emissions. Only when you experience a noticeable drop in performance is it time to clean the filter. Filter cleaning intervals are significantly extended.

 

2-MIX engine

Stihl's fuel-efficient 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4-channel technology delivers very high performance and tremendous pulling power, while fuel consumption is up to 20% lower compared to similar STIHL 2-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology. Additionally, emissions are reduced by up to 50%. It meets the European exhaust directive EU II.

 

Anti-vibration system

A person exposed to vibrations for extended periods, for example from a power tool, may experience circulation problems in the hands and arms. Stihl’s highly effective anti-vibration system absorbs dangerous vibrations from the engine and cutting equipment in precisely calculated buffer zones, making the machine comfortable and ergonomic to operate.

 

ElastoStart

Due to compression pressure, power surges occur at the moment of starting a combustion engine, which strain muscles and joints. STIHL ElastoStart, a special handle, uses a spring system to absorb and dampen these power surges. This gives you a smooth and comfortable start of the machine.

 

Ematic chain lubrication

STIHL’s Ematic System consists of the Ematic bar, the Oilomatic saw chain, and a manually or automatically adjustable oil pump. The special design of the bar and chain ensures that the chain oil is delivered exactly where it’s needed, without waste. Oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50%.

 

M-Tronic (M)

Fully electronic ignition timing and fuel metering. The STIHL M-Tronic (M) engine management system provides optimal engine performance in all conditions, constantly high maximum speed, and outstanding acceleration. In addition, the system has a memory function, which further improves handling. Manual carburetor adjustment is a thing of the past.

Bayonet tank cap

Patented special closure for the fuel and oil tanks. The cap has a bayonet fitting that makes it incredibly simple and convenient to both open and close without tools.

 

Winter/Summer operation

Stihl chainsaws with carburetor heating can be relied on even during the cold season: Set to winter operation, the carburetor is surrounded by preheated air, preventing icing in the carburetor. A simple adjustment is all it takes to switch between summer and winter operation.
