With the W (Wind) mode in the I-DC5 drag system, protection against skat nests in strong wind conditions has been enhanced. This means that even baits that are heavily affected by air resistance can be cast with ease. Casting performance is further improved by the use of the Magnumlite spool. In addition to the cold-forged housing, the MicroModule drive system contributes to a very smooth rotation with low noise levels. Finally, the spool's rotational resistance is further reduced by a new rotor clutch from Shimano.
